Relocating Businesses to Puerto Rico – Fox News turned its spotlight Thursday on Puerto Rico’s efforts to lure investment and the benefits of relocating businesses to the island.
Legal eagle Larry Friedman was interviewed on the how and why of moving a business to Puerto Rico.
Friedman is a partner at Friedman & Feiger LLP, a Dallas-based law firm that set up a Puerto Rico branch in Hato Rey in March to offer immigration, bankruptcy, real estate & property law, civil litigation, corporate law and family law, among other services, to clients in Puerto Rico and offshore.
The firm is helping clients tap two new Puerto Rico government incentives laws aimed at attracting wealthy investors and service firms to the island.
Friedman & Feiger and other legal and tax experts working in Hato Rey’s Golden Mile are fielding calls daily from wealthy technology, finance and other high worth executives exploring a move to Puerto Rico.
In January, Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the largest law firms in the nation to specialize in employment and labor law, said it picked Puerto Rico for its first expansion beyond the continental U.S. Chairman Vincent A. Cino said the firm would use its Puerto Rico branch as a “gateway” to the Caribbean and Latin America. Founded in 1958, the firm employs 750 attorneys in more than 50 locations.
Hedge fund Forest Investments LLC also recently established in San Juan as a direct result of the incentives.
